What each adapter does

Detects agent state

Detects when the attached agent enters a working or thinking state.

Requests sponsor message

Requests a relevant sponsor message from the Token Ads backend.

Displays the ad

Displays the ad in a native, non-blocking slot within the agent interface.

Sends metrics back

Sends cumulative active-visible metrics back to the backend for billing.

Pauses or hides

Pauses or hides the ad when the agent stops or the user dismisses it.

Common behavior across all harnesses

Opt-in only

No adapter activates without explicit user consent.

Ads pause after inactivity

If the agent stops working or the user switches away, the ad pauses immediately.

No raw data transmitted

No raw prompts, source, diffs, or secrets are transmitted to the ad backend.

Fail-open design

If the ad server is unreachable, the agent keeps running normally. No impact on your workflow.

Do I need a separate adapter for each agent?
Yes. Each harness has its own adapter that integrates natively with that environment. Setup takes one command per harness.
Do my credits follow me across harnesses?
Yes. Your Token Ads account tracks credits across all connected harnesses. Earn on Pi, spend on Codex.
What if my agent tool is not listed?
Use the "Suggest a harness" form above. We prioritize new adapters based on demand.
Can I run multiple harnesses at the same time?
Yes. Each adapter runs independently. Only the active, visible agent session counts toward earnings.
